Piedmont Association of Physician Assistants was started by a steering committee of three individuals, Dean Minton, Gregg Stark, and Wayne VonSeggen. The first CME meeting was presented in February 1985. In August of that year the constitution was approved, and Gregg Stark was elected the first president of PAPA. We have been a regional chapter of NCAPA since 1985. We elect a new Board of Directors each year in November, to begin serving the following January.
Our Mission Statement:
The Piedmont Association of Physician Assistants is a nonprofit organization created to promote the education of PAs and nurse practitioners. PAPA strives to improve communication and fellowship among physician extenders and to assist in promoting the goals of our state and national professional organizations. We are a chartered regional chapter of the North Carolina Academy of Physician Assistants....
